The Potawatomi Zoo is mourning the loss of one of its longtime residents.
Zoo officials announced Saturday that Mary Jo, a 19-year-old bobcat, was recently euthanized.
Mary Jo arrived at the zoo in 2007 after being rescued by a wildlife rehabilitator. She had lost her mother to a hunter when she was less than a year old.
According to the zoo, Mary Jo was known for her playful personality, often fishing in her pond and chasing tennis balls. Officials noted that bobcats typically live between 5 and 15 years, making her lifespan notably long.
