An Elkhart man has been sentenced in connection to a 2024 bank robbery.
43-year-old Melvin Levy was charged alongside 61-year-old Tyrone Hunt in the robbery of Fifth Third Bank on North Main Street in Elkhart in March of 2024.
Police say the pair forced bank employees to withdraw nearly $8,000 before fleeing the scene. Investigators used surveillance footage and Flock camera technology to track the suspects to multiple locations before locating them at a car wash, where both men attempted to run but were quickly apprehended.
Officers say both suspects were found with cash and items linked to the robbery.
Hunt later admitted involvement, while Levy denied participation.
The Goshen News says Hunt was sentenced to six years in prison, with an additional one-year sentence for resisting law enforcement, to be served concurrently.

This is the 3rd article on this site (in one day) where a convicted felon is sentenced to hardly any prison time instead of what punishment should be. Someone needs serious oversight on their sentencing recommendations.
