The City of Elkhart marked a major milestone with the ribbon cutting of The Delta development in the River District. 

The project includes three buildings: Ivy Row, The Clark and The Penstock, with 89 apartments and 12,000 square feet of retail space.

Developers say the community is already about 60 percent leased, with many new residents coming from out of state. Michiana Business News says the walkable neighborhood sits near the St. Joseph River and Elkhart River.

Officials say more additions are planned, including restaurants, retail and public art installations.
