For the third straight hearing, a 20-year-old man accused of murder in downtown Elkhart refused to appear in court.

Christopher J. Yotter is charged in the April 2025 killing of Douglas Morgan, who was found unconscious and covered in blood and later pronounced dead.

Investigators say the victim suffered severe head injuries, and evidence at the scene included a wooden rod and broken concrete.

The Goshen News says despite skipping court again, doctors have found Yotter competent to stand trial.

His jury trial is scheduled for July 6, with a status hearing set for June 1.
