A traffic stop on Interstate 70 led to the seizure of nearly 400 pounds of suspected cocaine and the arrest of a California man.
According to Indiana State Police, a criminal interdiction trooper stopped a commercial motor vehicle Monday morning for speeding near the 37-mile marker eastbound, close to Cloverdale.
During the stop, the trooper observed several indicators of possible criminal activity involving the driver, identified as 27-year-old Harmandeep Singh of Bakersfield, California.
Police say Singh gave consent to search the vehicle. Inside the trailer, troopers found duffle bags and cardboard boxes containing approximately 392 pounds of suspected cocaine.
The drugs have an estimated street value of about $9 million.
Singh was taken into custody and booked into the Putnam County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond. He faces preliminary charges of dealing a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony, and possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 3 felony.
