An Elkhart murder case is being pushed back several months.

59-year-old Michael Hawkins Jr., accused in the death of 50-year-old Anthony Null, will now face a jury trial on October 19, after it was continued from May 7.

Investigators say Null’s body was found in the St. Joseph River on July 17, and an autopsy determined he died from a gunshot wound. Court documents say the two men had argued earlier that day, and a witness reported hearing a gunshot before seeing Null injured.

The Goshen News says police later found evidence at the campsite and along the river. Hawkins has denied any physical altercation.
