An Elkhart-area teen is facing a serious charge, but details remain limited.

Xzavion Jerraid has been charged with attempted murder in connection to an incident dating back to February, though prosecutors have not released additional information about the case.

Court records show Jerraid was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on April 10, the same day he was also charged with possession of marijuana in LaPorte County, where a warrant has been issued.

The Goshen News says during an initial hearing, Jerraid told the judge his family plans to hire a private attorney.

An attorney status hearing is set for April 30, with a jury trial currently scheduled for August 3.
