The City of South Bend Department of Public Works is now accepting applications for the 2026 Lamppost Lighting Program, which assists homeowners with lighting enhancements in their neighborhoods. The program offers easy self-install, solar-powered lampposts for residential front yards.

The cost-share program is open to homeowners within the city limits. For 2026, the City has selected four target areas based on income, number of vacant lots and a need for lighting in the neighborhood. Homeowners in the target areas will pay a lower share of the total cost:

–              Homeowners within target areas: $50

–              Homeowners outside target areas: $250

The application deadline is Friday, June 5. More information about the program and target areas can be found at southbendin.gov/lamppost. Photos of lamppost are attached for media use.
