Cass County Prosecutor announces resignation

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz has announced his resignation.

In a letter dated May 11, Fitz said his final day in office will be May 19.

Fitz thanked law enforcement agencies, community partners, and members of his office staff for their dedication to public safety and justice during his time in office.

Under Michigan law, Cass County Circuit Judge Mark Herman will appoint a replacement prosecutor to serve the remainder of the current term through 2028.

County officials say the position announcement and application instructions will be posted online once the appointment process begins.
