During this week’s meeting, the St. Joseph County Council passed a resolution encouraging the county to appeal a recent Indianapolis judge’s ruling that says the county’s nine-member council structure is illegal, despite the system being in place for more than 50 years.
In other business, a council committee approved a proposal for the highway department to buy 15 new trucks for snow removal and road repairs. The full council is expected to vote on that purchase in two weeks.
The committee also approved a county bridge repair plan, which will also head to the full council later this month.
