Another township in Cass County is putting a temporary stop to possible data center developments.

Porter Township board members unanimously approved a one-year moratorium, with the option to extend it another year if needed.

Officials say the pause gives the township time to review zoning rules and address public concerns.

Michigan law does not allow communities to completely ban legal land uses like data centers if zoning requirements are met.

Township leaders say no agreements have been signed.
