Suspect in custody after knife incident at Notre Dame building

A suspect is in custody following a reported knife incident inside a building on the campus of University of Notre Dame.

According to the Notre Dame Police Department, the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18, inside Stinson-Remick Hall.

Police say a woman reported that a man approached her inside a lab, displayed a knife, and instructed her to close the windows. Authorities say another person entered the room moments later, prompting the suspect to put the knife away before asking where a restroom was located and leaving the area.

The suspect was initially described as a white man wearing dark clothing, including a black Under Armour baseball cap, black T-shirt, black pants, and white shoes. He was also described as having dark facial hair.

Investigators later confirmed the suspect had been taken into custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.
