Penn Township Planning Commission address data center concerns

The Penn Township Planning Commission held a special meeting on Tuesday night to address concerns from residents about potential data center development in the area.
The discussion followed comments raised during the May 11 Penn Township board meeting, where residents pushed for stronger protections before any large-scale projects move forward.
Planning commissioners had initially proposed a 30-day moratorium on new data center development applications. However, residents argued that a one-year moratorium would give township leaders more time to establish policies, regulations and procedures before approving future projects.
Township board members are expected to vote on the proposed one-year moratorium during a meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, May 21.
