Alcohol may have been a factor in a two-vehicle crash early in Cass County that sent one person to the hospital.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says deputies assisted the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department at the scene around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Eagle Lake Road in Ontwa Township.

Investigators say a 50-year-old Granger woman was traveling south on Eagle Lake Road when she entered the intersection and attempted to cross U.S. 12 without yielding to a westbound vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Niles woman.

Authorities say the Granger woman was unable to avoid striking the side of the other vehicle.

The Niles woman driving the other vehicle was transported by Edwardsburg Ambulance Service to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
