A man accused of killing his wife has made his first appearance in Elkhart County Circuit Court.

Police say Aaron Williams called 911 early Saturday morning, saying he wanted to kill himself and later indicated someone was dead.

Officers arrived at a home on County Road 18 and say Williams admitted he shot his wife, Patricia Williams, in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Goshen News says Williams entered a preliminary not guilty plea. His request for a public defender was denied due to assets and property ownership. A jury trial is scheduled for October 5.
