Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting that left a man wounded Monday evening following what investigators believe was a road rage incident on Interstate 80/94.

Troopers were called around 5:45 p.m. Monday, June 8, to the area of I-80/94 and Burr Street after reports of a shooting involving a motorist.

According to police, the victim was driving an orange Jeep Wrangler and was the vehicle’s only occupant. Investigators say he was stopped at a traffic light at the top of the Burr Street exit ramp when he was shot.

The victim then drove to the nearby Hard Rock Casino seeking medical assistance. State police emphasized that the shooting did not occur at the casino, despite rumors circulating online.

The man suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said he is in stable condition.

Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was not random. Investigators believe it stemmed from a road rage encounter that began on westbound I-80/94 before both vehicles exited at Burr Street.

No information about a suspect or suspect vehicle has been released.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact the Indiana State Police at 219-696-6242.
