A man accused of attempting to rob someone in an Elkhart Kroger parking lot last year has been sentenced. 

21-year-old Diego Salas Barrios received two years with the Indiana Department of Correction after pleading guilty to battery against a public safety official.

Prosecutors say officers responded to the reported robbery attempt in June 2025 and later struggled with Barrios as they tried to arrest him.

The Goshen News says more serious robbery and other related charges were dismissed under the plea agreement.
