ICAW reports abuse, unsanitary conditions at two industrial egg farms

(Tommie Lee/953MNC)
A group of animal advocates announced this week the results of an investigation that they say uncovers hordes of abuse and unsanitary conditions at two industrial egg farms in North Manchester that keep shelves stocked at Kroger.
WANE TV says the International Council for Animal Welfare (ICAW) found that Grade Egg Producers and Automated Egg Producers acted inappropriately by having overcrowded wire cages, birds trapped inside, and carcasses lying around.
ICAW said it used USDA packing codes to connect the eggs to each farm and Kroger’s supply. Kroger says they are following up and investigating the claims.
