Indiana communities, including several in northern Indiana, will receive state funding for local road and bridge improvements through the latest round of the Community Crossings matching grant program.
Governor Mike Braun announced more than $84 million in grants to 147 cities, towns and counties statewide. Combined with an earlier round of awards this fiscal year, the state has committed more than $165 million for local infrastructure projects.
Locally, Elkhart County and St. Joseph County will each receive $1 million. Goshen was awarded more than $940,000, while Mishawaka will receive nearly $900,000.
The Community Crossings program provides matching funds for road and bridge projects and has invested more than $2 billion in local infrastructure since it began in 2016. State officials say the additional funding will help improve transportation, support economic development and enhance quality of life in communities across Indiana.
