The Berrien County Health Department is urging parents to talk with their teens about marijuana use.
They’re citing concerns that young people see less risk in using the drug.
State data shows nearly 22 percent of Michigan teens used marijuana in the past 30 days, while nearly 40 percent of high school students have tried it at least once.
According to WSBT, health officials say more than a third of teens have experimented with marijuana, and some develop dependency.
Parents are encouraged to use everyday opportunities, such as passing dispensaries or billboards, to start conversations about staying drug-free.
