A Chicago man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading an Indiana State Police trooper on a pursuit along the Indiana Toll Road.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident began around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, when a trooper reported a silver Dodge pickup traveling eastbound at 104 mph near mile marker 90.

A second trooper located the truck several minutes later near mile marker 104, where police say it was still traveling at more than 100 mph. After activating emergency lights and siren, the trooper attempted a traffic stop, but investigators say the driver continued east, weaving through traffic before pulling onto the shoulder near mile marker 121 in LaGrange County.

Police identified the driver as 28-year-old Justyn Thomas of Chicago. He was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators said the pickup also carried an adult woman and two children, ages 8 and 2.

Thomas was booked into the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony resisting law enforcement, Level 6 felony neglect of a dependent, and misdemeanor reckless driving.

The woman and the two children were released at the scene.
