The Elkhart County Election Board is reviewing the number of vote centers ahead of the November general election.

The county currently operates 29 vote centers, but state law only requires at least 13 based on the number of registered voters.

Chief Deputy Clerk Jenny Wertenberger says staffing was a challenge during May’s primary election.

Each vote center requires at least seven volunteers to operate.

The election board plans to review voter turnout at each location when it meets August 6 before deciding whether any changes are needed.
