The South Bend school board plans to appeal a judge’s order involving the former Clay High School building.

Board members voted unanimously on Monday, Nov. 2, to challenge the decision, which requires the district to make the building available to Career Academy for lease or purchase.

The vote followed public comments from students, parents and residents supporting Career Academy’s plans for the site.

School officials say the building remains in use for career and technical education programs serving hundreds of students.

The district has 30 days to file its appeal.
