(95.3 MNC)
M-51 near Dowagiac is geting back to normal following a fuel tanker crash that shut down the highway for several hours.
A semi hauling more than 13,000 gallons of fuel overturned late Tuesday night, after colliding with another vehicle at M-51 and Peavine Road.
The tanker leaked fuel, triggering a hazardous materials response and forcing the evacuation of nearby residents while crews worked to contain the spill.
Several agencies, including the Clay Fire Department, helped at the scene.
M-51 remained closed for about seven hours before reopening. Cleanup continued through Wednesday afternoon.
