South Bend man sentenced to 19 years for drug, firearm charges

It’s 19 years in federal prison for a man accused of drug trafficking.
A South Bend man was sentenced after pleading guilty to trafficking and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime.
29-year-old DeCarlos Christopher Smallwood received a 228-month sentence followed by five years of supervised release.
Investigators found about 669 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm during searches of his home and vehicle in November 2025.
