A person has died after being found underwater in Lake Wawasee Friday afternoon.

Turkey Creek Fire Territory says crews were dispatched to the sandbar area of the lake around 2 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing person.

About an hour later, the person was located approximately three feet beneath the surface in an area where the lake was about 20 feet deep.

Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
