A dog is back home safe after firefighters rescued him from a storm drain near Michigan City.

David Lant says his dog, Bubba, wandered into a drainage pipe outside their home Sunday and disappeared.

Lant heard Bubba barking from inside the pipe, but he decided not to rescue him due to physical limitations from Parkinson’s disease.

Firefighters spent an hour working to free Bubba before he finally emerged.

Lant says it took three baths to get his dog clean.
