Indiana’s unemployment rate held at 3.3% in August, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The state’s labor-force participation rate was 63%, compared with the national rate of 61.6%. Indiana’s labor force totaled more than 3.48 million people.

Private-sector employment increased by 4,000 jobs from July to August. Manufacturing led the gains with 3,500 jobs, followed by other industries, leisure and hospitality, and professional and business services.

The state reported nearly 103,000 open job postings as of Aug. 30. Indiana also had more than 17,500 continued unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Sept. 5.
