Six people were evaluated after two boats crashed Sunday evening on the St. Joseph River in Elkhart County.

The crash was reported around 6:45 p.m. near River Shore Lane.

Baugo Township firefighters responded first, then Cleveland Township firefighters were called after dispatchers reported the crash was on the other side of the river.

Elkhart City Fire sent another ambulance, while Baugo Township launched a rescue boat.

Concord Township Fire also sent a boat to work downstream.

Three of the six people evaluated were taken to the hospital.
