A motorcycle crash in Elkhart County has sent a 64-year-old woman to the hospital.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened Sunday afternoon at County Road 43 and County Road 50, about four miles from Millersburg.

Deputies say the motorcycle was traveling north on County Road 43, stopped at the intersection, and turned onto County Road 50.

Investigators say the motorcycle accelerated at an unsafe speed and lost control on loose gravel, causing it to fishtail.

The 64-year-old passenger, also from Ligonier, was thrown from the motorcycle and struck the roadway.

She suffered minor head injuries and was taken to Parkview Regional Hospital. The 74-year-old driver, also from Ligonier, was not injured.

The motorcycle sustained minor damage.
