Indiana Expands CDL Pathway for Veterans

unsplash.com
Indiana is making it easier for some veterans and active-duty military personnel to move into trucking careers.
Governor Mike Braun says the state has joined the Even Exchange Program, allowing qualified service members with certain military driving experience to exchange their military credentials for an Indiana commercial driver’s license without taking the CDL skills test.
Applicants must still meet eligibility requirements and provide documentation, including proof of military service and qualifying commercial-vehicle experience.
The program works alongside Indiana’s existing military CDL skills-waiver option.
Veterans who do not qualify under the listed military job classifications may still be eligible for a skills-test waiver, but would need to pass the CDL knowledge exam.
