A man who spent nearly 27 years in prison for a murder he was wrongfully convicted of is suing the city of Elkhart, the state of Indiana, police officers and former prosecutors.
Reginald Dillard’s lawsuit alleges officers fabricated evidence and pressured witnesses to lie in the 1998 murder of Christopher Thomas.
Dillard’s conviction was overturned, and he was released in February.
His case is the seventh of eight Elkhart convictions overturned through Notre Dame Law School’s Exoneration Justice Clinic.
