Nearly 3,000 early voters casting votes so far in St. Joseph County

Nearly 3,000 people have already voted early in St. Joseph County ahead of the November midterm elections.

Local officials say about 15 percent of those voters didn’t vote in the previous midterm election.

Competitive races in Clay and Harris townships may be helping drive interest.

However, an Indiana University South Bend political science professor tells WSBT increased early voting doesn’t necessarily mean overall turnout will be higher.
