Fabian Rubio was sentenced Thursday to 65 years in prison for the murder of a 15-year-old Bremen girl whose body was found partially burned in Marshall County, online court documents state.

Rubio, 21, pleaded guilty in June to one count of murder in the death of Desirae Jones. Sexual misconduct with a teenager and corpse abuse charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Jones’ body was found in a wooded area of Marshall County on the same day she was reported missing in December 2014. Rubio was arrested in May after police found Jones’ blood in his truck and on items found in the truck.

Rubio and Jones were neighbors who exchanged text messages the day she went missing.

Rubio was already serving an eight-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct for an incident involving a 15-year-old girl in December 2014.
