NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A jury has been picked for the trial of a Bloomington man accused in the beating death of a 22-year-old Indiana University student last year.

The (Bloomington) Herald-Times reports a jury of eight women and four men has been selected for the trial of 50-year-old Daniel Messel. Three women and a man were selected to serve as alternates.

Opening statements are scheduled to begin Tuesday, followed by witness testimony.

Messel is accused of killing Hannah Wilson of Fishers. She disappeared after partying with friends during Little 500 weekend. Her body was later found in a vacant lot near Helmsburg, about 10 miles from Bloomington.

Messel’s attorney, Dorie Maryan had sought a change of venue for the case because of pretrial coverage.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
