CLAYPOOL, Ind. (AP) — One person was killed and another injured in a house explosion near Claypool, Indiana in southwestern Kosciusko County.

Kosciusko County Sheriff deputies and emergency personnel dispatched to the home Thursday found a man buried under debris and freed him.

Authorities say the victim was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne in critical condition.

Investigators later found a second victim dead under the debris. The body was taken to Northeast Indiana Forensic Center in Fort Wayne for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Authorities say the state fire marshal’s office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.
