Elkhart bus manufacturer Goshen Coach is ending production in November and 159 workers will lose their jobs as a result.

The closure will start October 31 with bus production wrapping up by the end of November, according to Goshen Coach’s parent company, REV Bus Group, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s news parters at ABC 57.

The parent company plans to move a recreational vehicle firm into the facility and eventually employ up to 165 people, but the timeline for exactly when that will happen is not known, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development and WorkOne Northern Indiana have activated the state’s Rapid Response team to assist the affected employees.

The Rapid Response team is activated when a significant layoff or plant closure occurs. The team helps displaced employees to move them toward a plan for re-employment.

The time and location of the first Rapid Response session will be announced in the near future.

Anyone who needs more information is asked to contact WorkOne Northern Indiana at 574-237-9675, Ext. 2541.
