Victim killed in Washington Gardens Apartments shooting identified

There’s been another shooting in Elkhart’s Washington Gardens housing complex. It happened around 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7.

A car was shot at and struck one of the apartment buildings, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The driver of the vehicle was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to an area hospital. The victim, identified as Edmund Adams, 37, of Elkhart died at the hospital, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

Neighbors reported hearing a volley of gunfire before the car crashed into the porch of the building. The investigation is underway and possible witnesses are cooperating with police.

An autopsy on Adams is expected to take place on Tuesday, Snyder stated.
