The Goshen Zoning Board has given a church permission to give permanent housing to homeless families.

The Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network will soon offer a permanent place for 20 homeless families, according to WSBT.

It’s the latest step for a homeless program that looks to create a more stable environment for families and offer them a sense of security while they get back on their feet.

The Goshen Zoning Board voted unanimously to approve the shelter that will be located at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Families will be allowed to stay overnight, seven days a week, with meals provided.

The program is expected to be up and running in June and will also add six spots for homeless women.
