Over 10,000 without power in Michiana due to high winds

The gusty winds are playing havoc on electric customers in various areas of Michiana Wednesday.

Indiana-Michigan Power is reporting over 9,000 customers without power in Michigan. The majority of outages are in Van Buren County, with over 5,400 reported without power as of 1:20 p.m. Wednesday. Over 13,000 customers statewide are without power.

I&M is reporting a few hundred customers in Indiana counties in the 95.3 MNC listening area are without power. Over 3,000 customers are without power in Allen County.

NIPSCO is also reporting over 3,500 customers without power in the 95.3 MNC listening area, with over 13,000 statewide. That includes 1,232 Goshen customers, 875 in Plymouth, and 771 in Bristol.

Midwest Energy Cooperative is reporting over 7,000 customers without power in Michigan, with what they describe as “widespread damage” across their territory.

The Indiana Toll Road has banned triple tractor trailers, long doubles and high profile oversize permit loads until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
