The numbers are in and this week’s “Give Local St. Joseph County” fundraiser shattered the previous record.

The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County says the 24-hour fundraising marathon yielded $8 million donations that will benefit local nonprofit organizations. The previous record was collected in 2015, when $6.7 million was raised, according to the South Bend Tribune.

This year also benefited from a $2.4 million matching pool that pushed the total just over $8 million at the midnight deadline.

67 charities took part this year.
