A South Bend man convicted last year for his part in the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy is getting his sentence reduced.
18-year-old Tyre Bradbury’s conviction for murder and criminal gang enhancement was upheld, but the sentence was reduced from 90 years to 60 years, according to ABC 57.
The Indiana Court of Appeals found his 45 year sentence for criminal gang enhancement was “constitutionally disproportionate” to his 45 year sentence for murder and was lowered to 15 years.
In April 2016, Bradbury was convicted of murder and a criminal gang enhancement in connection to the death of John Swoveland Jr., who was shot and killed while playing in a family member’s yard in April 2014.
John was hit by a stray bullet fired by Robert Griffin during a gang fight at Coquillard Park. Prosecutors said Bradbury gave the gun used in the shooting to Griffin.
