South Bend police identify alleged shooter that led officers on chase Monday night

The South Bend Police Department continues to investigate a reported shooting and ensuing police chase Monday night.

Police have initially charged 25-year-old George Harris with resisting law enforcement, but he could be facing more charges, according to police.

A 26-year-old South Bend man was shot in the foot in the 1100 block of E. Indiana. Witnesses reportedly pointed out Harris’ vehicle to officers, and briefly chased him to South St. Joseph and Woodside Streets, where he reportedly got out of his vehicle, tossed his gun in a backyard, and tried to flee officers to no avail.

The victim is expected to recover and there were no injuries. However, a couple of kids did witness the foot chase that followed…
