A LaPorte man was hospitalized after becoming trapped under his SUV.

Emergency responders were called to the 4800 block of County Road 600 West and found a 73 year-old man injured, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The man attempted to jump into the vehicle to stop it from rolling away after he unhooked it from the back of a motor home, ABC 57 reported.

It took roughly 25 minutes to free the man from under the SUV, which had come to a rest on top of him in a ditch on the side of the road.

The victim spent about 45 minutes under the vehicle in total.

His injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.
