As one might expect, college students have been a big boost in the numbers for LimeBike in and around South Bend.

ABC 57 reports that, since they returned to the campuses of Notre Dame, St. Mary’s College, Holy Cross College, Ivy Tech Communty College, Indiana University – South Bend, and Bethel College, ridership has jumped from 10,000 trips to 68,000.

Students accounted for more than half of that number, along with faculty and staff from the schools.

LimeBike, which knows how many students are riding due to their email addresses, reports that the average trip for those riders is about five minutes. That’s also roughly how long it takes to ride across the campus of Notre Dame.
