Pedestrian struck by South Shore train in South Bend

For the second time in as many days, a pedestrian was struck by a South Shore train.

The most recent collision happened at Bendix Drive and Ardmore Trail in South Bend on Friday evening, Oct. 6.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There was no word on the circumstances that led to pedestrian being hit.

On Thursday, Oct. 5,  a Michigan City man sitting on railroad tracks was struck and killed.

Witnesses said they yelled at L.B. Steward, 57, to get off the tracks, but he didn’t react.

The circumstances leading up Steward’s death remain under investigation.
