If you’re like many in South Bend who feel they’ve seen LimeBikes everywhere, get ready to see even more of them.
That’s because the current fleet of around 800 bikes is expected to more than double by the end of the year. A LimeBike spokesperson told the South Bend Tribune that the South Bend area will have over 2,000 bikes on the pavement by the end of the year and won’t remove any when winter weather begins.
The influx of bikes comes from a $50 million capital investment LimeBike received from a conglomerate of investors.
The company was initially founded in January this year with an initial $12 million investment. 125,000 rides have been taken on a LimeBike in South Bend since July, with 22,000 unique riders.

So we will have to throw the bikes in the yard or street to shovel sidewalks. There they will be buried in the snow until the thaw in the spring or plowed up by the snow plows. Great plan!
Sounds like they’re doubling down on stupid. Didn’t they already find limebikes in the river?
