INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana lawmakers appear to be adopting a wait-and-see approach as state legislatures across the county take steps toward updating their sexual harassment policies.

The actions in other states come after a wave of sexual misconduct allegations hit powerful men in public office, Hollywood and the media.

Lawmakers in Arizona, Idaho, Tennessee and Rhode Island underwent detailed training about sexual harassment this week, some for the first time. A Florida Senate panel voted to mandate an hour-long course.

That contrasts with Indiana, where lawmakers aren’t required to take sexual harassment training. There also is no specific sexual harassment policy governing their conduct.

The codes of conduct in the Indiana House and Senate require lawmakers to generally act with “high moral and ethical standards.”
