Elkhart police are investigating a shooting that left two 19-year-old men with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a report of gunfire near Main and Simonton Streets at about 12:05 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 7.

During the investigation, a 19-year-old man arrived at Elkhart General Hospital with a gunshot wound. Later in the morning, a second 19-year-old man arrived at another local hospital with a gunshot wound. Police believe the two incidents are related.

Both victims are expected to survive.

As part of the investigation, the Elkhart County Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of West Simonton Street on behalf of Elkhart police detectives.

No arrests have been made. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
