South Bend sues Granger brewery seeking to retake Wayne Street property

The City of South Bend might sue a brewery to keep it from opening a location in the city.

The Bare Hands Brewery was looking to become a part of the development and foot traffic happening around the area of Four Winds Field.

The South Bend Tribune reports the brewery has been accused of breaking the terms of a redevelopment deal involving the former Gates Service Building on Wayne Street. The Granger brewery bought the site in 2016 for $1, with a $1.4 million commitment by the company to improving the building.

Brewery owner Chris Gerard for Bare Hands Brewery says they will fight “tooth and nail” to keep the city from taking the property. He claims he’s invested thousands of dollars at the property improving it.

Offer an abortion with every beer purchased and Mayor Butt... will be OK with it... May 15, 2018 at 12:59 pm

Mayor Butt… feels like he missed out on this property so going to steal it from new owners. Typical. He will just deny any zoning required to have anything on the property. Just ask the Women’s Centers how he operates. Maybe if the new owners would provide abortions with every beer he would go for it!
